One of the best things about SilverStar is the wide range of family-friendly activities that you can experience, without ever leaving the comfort of the village. From winter tubing to ice skating to 10-pin bowling, here are seven activities that you need to try on your visit to SilverStar this winter:
1. Enjoy Some Winter Fun at Tube Town
Winter tubing is the perfect activity to enjoy as a family, whether as a break from skiing or at the end of a day on the slopes. Anyone over three years of age can go tubing, but children under 42” must be accompanied by an adult.
Slide and swerve down one of our four groomed tube lanes at Tube Town, located in the centre of the village under the Silver Queen Chairlift, then ride our convenient tube lift back to the top of the slopes for your next run!
2. Go Ice Skating on Brewer’s Pond
Strap on your skates, grab some friends, and enjoy ice skating on our natural ice rink, located at the base of the Silver Queen Chairlift near the village.
Brewer’s Pond offers a charming natural setting for a pickup game of hockey, a leisurely skate, or first lessons for a beginner! With an outdoor fire to warm up and music, you will want to bring the whole family to experience the atmosphere.
3. Try Our Mini Snowmobiles
Have your kids ever wanted to try snowmobiling on their own? At SilverStar, they can! Our mini-snowmobiles are a great activity that your kids will love, and parents will enjoy watching.
Kids can take the driver’s seat in one of our mini-snowmobiles and ride around our designated, fenced track. Our mini-snowmobiles are designed for children aged 6-12 years of age and weighing under 100 lbs. They’re the best way for kids to try out snowmobiling for themselves.
4. Go Night Skiing to Catch Some Extra Runs
Didn’t get enough runs in during the day? Ever wanted to ski under the stars? On Fridays and Saturdays, SilverStar offers 4 kilometres of groomed and illuminated beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs for night skiing.
Explore the terrain accessed by the Silver Queen Chair, the Gondola, or the Zone Magic Carpet, including everything from the bunny hill to expert black diamond runs like the Face and Show Off. Once you’re finished, follow a lit path back through the village to your chalet.
5. Let Off Some Steam at Pinheads Bowling
Experience the world’s only ski-in ski-out bowling alley!
Located in the heart of SilverStar’s alpine village, Pinheads Bowling features four computerized 10-pin bowling lanes with touch screen smart computers at every table. Other games like Buck Hunter, Pinball, Darts, and Karaoke are also available.
If you want to mix things up, bowling is a great activity that the whole family can enjoy — and you’ll be able to tell everyone that you went bowling in the mountains!
6. Relax on Our Cross-Country Skiing Trails
If you’re looking for an activity that’s more relaxed and gives you a chance to appreciate the beauty of your natural surroundings, then cross-country skiing is a great option!
SilverStar has been recognized as one of the best cross-country skiing destinations in North America. They offer over 105 kilometres of trails that are groomed daily — the largest network in Canada. These trails offer a variety of terrain to suit a wide range of skill levels and warming huts that make for fantastic lunch stops.
7. Stay Warm on Our Horse Sleigh Rides
Take a tour of the mountains on an authentic horse-drawn sleigh. Go on a magical journey deep into the forests to Wild Horseman’s Cabin, an enchanting and secluded destination.
When you arrive, our team will treat you to either a steaming hot chocolate or a delicious BBQ buffet dinner, depending on your selected package. You won’t want to miss this charming experience at SilverStar this winter.
