RED Mountain is for skiing purists. This Ikon Pass destination is renowned for its 3,850 acres of unspoiled terrain and a remarkable 7.6 meters of annual snowfall in the heart of the Kootenay Rockies. Ideal for intermediate to advanced skiers, RED offers a mix of groomed runs, challenging glades, and extensive backcountry options, including pay-per-run cat-skiing on Mt. Kirkup for the ultimate powder experience.
Your home for the week is the boutique Josie Hotel. It is modern yet cozy and a mere 50m from the chair each morning. Check the lift line from the Valet ski locker (there won’t be one) and carve as you please.
While skiing at RED, you can learn about its unique history, look for secret forest cabins, visit Paradise Camp for a coffee or snack, or Flying Phils for a taco - and lose track of the number of laps you log. Visit Rafters for après, known for its old-school vibe, and observe the characters on the wall and seated in the 'Old Bastard' corner. Enjoy a more sophisticated meal at the Velvet Lounge or Donnie’s Bistro and rest your head at The Josie Hotel each night.
Visit the Town of Rossland, under 10 minutes from the ski resort, via a free shuttle (it runs late on weekends). It has what you need—a grocer, some ski shops and trinkets, a brewing company, plenty of dining options, and more fun.
Enjoy a day trip to Whitewater Ski Resort or WH20 (under 2 hours) near the Town of Nelson, BC. This place is a ski 'throwback'—friendly, WIFI-free, and uncrowded. It is known for its deep powder, varied terrain, and fantastic food (check out the Whitewater Cooks cookbook series). Nap at day's end back to your Josie pillow.
